Sustainability and system efficiency

The aim for the design of the VRV 5 Heat Recovery system was to maximise the overall operation efficiency of the system in real-world conditions. This solution achieves market-leading performance, with a 13% increase in seasonal efficiency compared to the previous R-410A generation. Additionally, Daikin’s VRV systems have just two energy transfer steps (from air to refrigerant and from refrigerant back to air), which ultimately minimises the losses and further improves the overall system efficiency.

Moreover, VRV 5 Heat Recovery has been specifically engineered for the lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerant R-32. The GWP of R-32 is just one-third of that of R-410A and also carries heat more effectively, together leading to up to a 71% reduction in the system’s potential direct carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2eq) emissions. R-32 is also a single component refrigerant, which supports the circular economy as it is easy to recover and recycle.

Complete system management and control

Daikin’s signature Shîrudo Technology allows for complete autonomy as the ability to integrate climate control in small rooms and spaces without any further considerations or field-supplied equipment offers complete system management and control.

Shîrudo Technology includes a number of factory-integrated refrigerant control measures. In the unlikely event of a refrigerant leak, it is detected immediately, and the part of the installation affected is isolated. This safety feature minimises the refrigerant that can leak and means only the units in the affected part of the system will be shut down. This combined with easy validation via Daikin’s Xpress software, means Daikin guarantees compliance with the specific IEC product standard, out-of-the-box.

Smarter climate control

The benefits of individual comfort and ease of use for the end user is also a hugely important feature of the overall system. The highly efficient 3-pipe heat recovery system, integrated into the VRV 5 Heat Recovery, allows for heating and cooling simultaneously, and delivers superior individual comfort. What’s more, it provides virtually free heating with the heat transfer system around the building.

Daikin’s mini Building Management System (BMS), the intelligent Touch Manager, provides both local and cloud-based access control, allowing building managers to control the building systems from any location via the touchscreen, Intranet or Internet. It also easily integrates climate control and third-party equipment into one system to make operation as simple as possible.

Stretch – built in flexibility

Innovation must be at the forefront of the bid for decarbonisation, particularly regarding climate control solutions that can be specified for a wide variety of buildings and installation locations. Daikin VRV 5 Heat Recovery offers best-in-class design and installation versatility. The system has an extensive temperature operation range of up to +46°C in cooling and down to -20°C in heating. It also offers the widest outdoor unit range on the market, with heating capacities up to 90kW.

To ensure the unit can be installed with ducting to the exterior, in small spaces or behind grilles, it has been designed to deliver an external static pressure (ESP) of up to 78 Pascals (Pa). It also features five low sound steps down to 40 db(A) in sound pressure to allow installation in accordance with urban planning requirements. VRV 5 Heat Recovery allows the same long piping runs as the current VRV range and even smaller pipe diameters, further reducing the required installation space.
